LAB TECHNICIAN SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Technicians in the Manufacturing Operations department are responsible for performing support functions, solution preparation, and cell culture/fermentation and purification operations. They perform their cell culture/fermentation or purification operations with supervision. Technicians are progressively developing competency in cGMP manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals. RESPONSIBILITIES: Compliance with safety guidelines Perform upstream and/or purification operations with supervision. Perform support functions including inventory and stocking of supplies and raw materials, chemical weigh and tracking, buffer and media preparation. Prepare, clean and sterilize process equipment including tanks, bioreactors, filtration systems and labware. Comply with cGMP Practices, Regulations, and Documentation Requirements Secondary Functions: Assist in equipment and process validation Identify and purchase new spare parts for equipment as assigned Author maintenance work orders SCOPE: Technicians work as a team with the other members of clinical manufacturing to produce biological products in varying stages of clinical development. This includes the functions that support the production (buffer/media preparation, stocking lab suites, completing are reviewing documentation accurately, and communicating the status of processes to the other members of manufacturing). EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent work experience.
