The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring that all laboratory procedures being performed in areas of responsibility will comply with all regulatory, accrediting, and licensure requirements. This position will be required to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends and provide coverage for the department as needed. Additional responsibilities of the Laboratory Supervisor include: Microbiology: includes the subspecialties of Bacteriology, Mycology, Mycobacteriology, Virology, Parasitology and Molecular Microbiology. The major challenges of this position are supervising multiple employees, ensuring adequate staffing, general supervisory duties and research and development of new policies and procedures. Innovative cost reduction strategies are continuing areas for review to provide new opportunities and possibilities.
